14' Service Body w/Raised Cargo Bed Enclosure By Harbor Truck Bodies

 

 

Here is a rare look at a 14' Harbor Service Body on a W-Series (Isuzu) truck. There aren't a lot of these made, but on the tilt cab truck it is absolutely perfect.

You can see from the side shots how much storage space there is, let alone all the space under that Cargo Bed Enclosure. And, of course, with that many doors, you would just have to have the Master Lock System which this has seeing the u-shaped bar on the rear. This truck is mounted on the Chevy W-Series made by Isuzu and only has a 133" wheelbase with a 108" CA, so even though it is long, it turns like a regular cab pickup truck.

What's really cool about these shots is that they demonstrate one of the best values of the tilt cab truck: 14' body on a 133" wheelbase. The average regular cab pickup has a wheelbase of 133-135". This will even turn slightly sharper than that because of the front axle design and geometry. You can put a somewhat larger body in about the same footprint as a pickup. That is a huge story!

The Stairway To Heaven Body! A Golden Winner!

 

 

Kimberly and I was joking with with each other calling this the Stairway to Heaven body because when you look at the photo of the back it looks to me like a stairway to the lids from the bumper to the vise mount to the fold-up step to the lid. But we are unanimous calling this body is SWEEEEET!!

Mounted on a light brown metallic GMC 5500 Crew Cab, the Harbor 56" closed top body is enhanced with the addition of a 3-piece raised cargo bed enclosure. What do you suppose they put in there? Whatever they want, I'm sure since there is a ton of room in there. A couple of custom vise mounts, some fold-up steps mounted to the end panels, oversize tailgate, and a forklift loadable rack. Then we get around to the side and see all those beautiful HD drawers! I love drawers in service bodies. The unit also has Harbor's Master Lock System and 2-stage matching paint including inside the compartments.

Sweet Red Harbor Body On Dodge By Distributor Cascade Truck Body

Here's another great looking truck from our distributor, Cascade Truck Body in Eugene, Oregon. This one is on a new uplevel Dodge 4500/5500 chassis with some nice wheels. The body is a Harbor Crane/Welder--or is it a Welder/Crane?--either way, it has two raised front compartments that are vented on the curbside. Nice HD crane and metal drop in tailgate with some nice handles to make it easy. It also has an 18" rear work platform extension with compartments and the outriggers are nicely placed. Notice the steps built into the bumper. Of course, I don't walk past a nice red upfitted truck without looking it over two or three times. This is a sweet package and a gorgeous truck. Another Cascade home run!

Raised Cargo Bed Enclosure Can Be A Great Benefit

This is a rare unit to find in dealer stock, and so cool. The Raised Cargo Bed Enclosure is an excellent addition to make a service body much more useful. Think about a bedslide inside the bed to make reaching for a part or a tool a piece of cake. Notice the nice rack and rackstraps! This unit also has the Harbor Master Lock System and the Harbor pop-out locks--when the lock is unlocked the button is out so you can see that it is unlocked. When locked the button is in. Easy to see from a distance of 50' or more.

This particular unit is a 3-piece Cargo Bed Enclosure which opens up two thirds of the bed when you roll it back. In addition, it doesn't really roll anymore since over ten years ago, Harbor started using special teflon pads instead of ball bearings. Harbor's warranty issues went to zero since the teflon, but the best part is how easy it slides and how quiet it is, and it operates that way in virtually any weather conditions.

This is a 9' model mounted on a Ford F34 SRW chassis. This photo was taken at Future Ford of Concord in Concord, CA. A Whole Lot Of Bling Going On! Vortex Doors Trucks Look Sharp!

Some like them plain and some like them to Bling! Here we captured a truck in final stages being built for Vortex Doors by Harbor Truck Bodies in Brea, CA. They have been buying trucks just like this for a lot of years and their trucks stand out of the crowd, for sure.

First off, they are low pro bodies, so the top of the service body lids is at about the bottom of the rear window, in this case it is 34" high. This is a hard working truck that has a rear (most seem to be in the front) compartment for short welder bottles and the compartment is vented and set up for this task (See it in action on the Vortex website at www.vortexdoors.com). The rack has RackStraps on both sides. Then, a stainless steel vise bracket to the back of the right compartment.

Now we come to the bling! Polished aluminum treadplate is attached to the standard stainless steel lids, and the cargo compartment and backwrappers are covered in the same shiny treadplate. Add to this an unusual, but gorgeous chrome rear bumper and you have one sweet looking truck. Of course, we cannot forget the silver metallic base coat, clear coat paint job! It's a knockout! I'm sure their strategy was more protection from scratched paint and rust, but the bling has other obvious benefits! Low Pro Dually Service Body Is Useful AND Looks Great!

I ran across this shot and just had to add it to the blog. I think it is a 2000 Ford 56" CA box delete chassis with a Harbor 9' Low Pro Service Body. This unit has a 2-pc cargo bed enclosure, master lock system, tapered material rack (used to be 1"x2" tubing like this, but now most are 2"x2" or 2"x3"), aluminum treadbrite lid covers, stainless steel vise bracket, and more. The chassis is an XLT uplevel trim with nice Alcoa aluminum wheels from the factory.

It is so rare to see low pro service bodies in dealer inventory and especially a dually low pro, but I gotta say that this truck is awesome! I think it works extremely well. It is also very nice to be something other than white. Here's to more low pro bodies!

Connected Underbed Boxes Looks Sweet! Useful Too!

It is very common to have one underbed box mounted near the cab on a flatbed, but take a look at this approach. Here is a series of underbed boxes of varying sizes that are connected with a wheel skirt insert making it look like it is not a flatbed at all, but something else. In this case, the bed is a 14' stakebed from Harbor Truck Bodies in Brea, CA. Just think of all the stuff you can put in all those compartments which are 18" deep! Then do it again on the other side. What a great way to be able to carry things that are kept out of sight and out of the weather while doing the things you need to do with the stakebed. A great combination!
